A 29-year-old man suspected of taking part in a narcotics operation in South Los Angeles has been taken into custody after being hospitalized for injuries sustained during his arrest, police said Wednesday.
Detectives assigned to the Newton Area observed the suspect, identified as Tony Jackson, “actively engaged” in a narcotics operation around 6:35 p.m. Monday near 50th Street and Central Avenue and initiated a traffic stop, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
After being handcuffed, Jackson briefly tried to run but was subdued when a detective grabbed his shirt, causing him to fall, police said.
