Remember Zac Leepper? The Springfield, Illinois, native and Alinea alum who took over as executive chef at Roost in October 2023? Well, he’s refreshed the menu to go along with the NOMA Square restaurant’s new look. Or perhaps it’s the other way around.

The downtown Greenville restaurant announced a temporary hiatus in December 2024 for a makeover — one that would more accurately align with Leepper’s cuisine.

The rebrand comes with a new name: Roost Free Range Kitchen & Bar.

On Oct. 9, we meandered over to Roost to check out its new offerings. The first thing to notice is that in the 10-month interlude, the restaurant shed its booths and updated its ceiling in favor of more contemporary tables and fixtures. The interior now has a more serene color palette.
