FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno is unveiling a new reverse vending machine that they say will dispense "joy" this holiday season.
Instead of vending snacks or drinks, The Giving Machine lets visitors buy necessities that go directly to those in need.
With the touch of a keypad, visitors can purchase meals for valley families, warm coats for cold children, and emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence from one of seven local and international nonprofits.
This year's local participants include Hinds LifeCare, Catholic Charities, Family Healing Center, FIRM, and the Poverello House. Visitors will also be able to donate to Mentors International and USA for UNHCR.
