The 70-year-old Tabernacle Rescue Squad will remain open after the township rescinded its notice of termination and eviction.
The Burlington County town notified the rescue squad earlier this year it would be shut down in November and a shared services agreement with other communities was being considered.
Residents from Tabernacle Township and Shamong Township rallied at public hearings to keep the emergency building open.
On Monday, Tabernacle officials said the rescue squad would remain in operation.
“Because of your overwhelming support and civic involvement, Tabernacle’s committee joined Shamong’s last night in rescinding our notice of termination and eviction,” the rescue squad said in a message posted on the squad website .
