Police arrested a 35-year-old man in connection to a hit-and-run crash in suburban Chicago that left an 18-year-old skateboarder seriously injured, police said.

Around 6:44 p.m. on October 18, authorities responded to the 14900 block of Harmony Road, west of Briar Hill Road in unincorporated McHenry County for a call of a crash involving a pedestrian.

Authorities said preliminary investigation indicates that the 18-year-old from Marengo was riding a skateboard westbound "along or near the white edge of the eastbound lane of travel" when the driver of a dark-colored SUV struck him and fled.

The 18-year-old was airlifted to a hospital in Rockford where he was listed in serious but stable condition, police said.
