Amazon is hiring thousands of seasonal employees in Massachusetts ahead of the holidays – the time of year when many Americans are ordering gifts for loved ones.
Over the course of the season, the multibillion-dollar e-commerce company will bring on 250,000 workers across the U.S., Amazon said in a statement. About 5,500 of those positions will be in Massachusetts.
The seasonal jobs will be distributed across the state, with several in the Boston area, according to Jonathan Greeley, head of economic development for Amazon in New England.
"Our continued investment in Massachusetts reflects Amazon's long-term commitment to the Commonwealth," Greeley said in a statement. "As we create 5,500 seasonal positions and continue investing in competitive wages, we're proud to be part of Massach
