Richard Madeley has opened up about a family “regret” that he says came from a “heavy blow”. Richard, 63, was just 21 when his father Christopher “died on the spot” after finding himself “feeling very odd” at work.

Richard says his father just walked through the door and “collapsed” into his mother’s arms. Medics later concluded that Christopher had suffered a heart attack, he was aged just 49 at the time.

Good Morning Britain star Richard has previously described it as a “huge shock” to the family. Christopher’s death came just weeks after the TV star had tied the knot with his first wife, Lynda Hooley.
