VIRGINIA - Canada's Brad Jacobs improved to 4-0 at the Pan Continental Curling Championships with a pair of victories Wednesday.

Jacobs, vice Marc Kennedy, second Brett Gallant and lead Ben Hebert out of Calgary's Glencoe Club thumped New Zealand 7-1 in a game that lasted just seven ends after an earlier 14-6 victory over South Korea.

Canada and the John Shuster of the United States were tied atop the men's standings with 4-0 records ahead of China and Japan both at 3-1.

The Canadians opened with three in the first end and stole two in the second en route to Wednesday evening's win over Sean Becker's team from New Zealand.

Jacobs' foursome withstood a strong first half from South Korea's Soo-Hyuk Kim, whose rink pushed the Canadians early before fading after the fifth-end break.
