Jess McKelvey made five saves to record a shutout for second-seeded Hillsborough as it blanked sixth-seeded Ridge by a score of 2-0 in the semifinal round of the Somerset County Tournament in Hillsborough.
Hillsborugh’s win sends it through to the final round of the tournament where it will clash with top-seeded Pingry, ranked No. 18 in the NJ.com Top 20, which topped fourth-seeded Watchung Hills by a 3-0 margin, at a neutral field in Watchung on Saturday.
Both of Hillsborough’s goals were scored in the second quarter. Jane Rodrigues and Jianna Seale recorded matching one-goal, one-assist stat lines for Hillsborough (12-6).
Maddie Garcia turned aside three Hillsborough shots in goal for Ridge (4-13-1).
