COLUMBUS, Ohio — The right guard position has become a major talking point pertaining to Ohio State’s offensive line struggles.
As the Buckeyes enter their second bye week of the season, a critical personnel decision looms. With the snap counts trending in a clear direction, all signs point to Josh Padilla potentially taking over for veteran Tegra Tshabola when Ohio State faces Penn State .
The evidence has been mounting over recent weeks. Tshabola, who played all 64 snaps against Washington earlier this season, saw his playing time decrease as Padilla’s increased.
Against Wisconsin, Tshabola played 44 snaps while Padilla received a career-high 26 snaps. Meanwhile, Ethan Onianwa, who was previously in the rotation, played just one snap when backups were inserted late in the game.
