Opposition leaders in Maharashtra have raised concerns over the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, following an Indian Express report on October 22 that highlighted irregularities in the scheme aimed at supporting women.

According to RTI findings cited in the report, 12,431 men and around 77,980 ineligible women received Rs 1,500 per month for 13 months, resulting in an estimated misappropriation of around Rs 164–165 crore.

Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar criticised the government, stating that the scheme was introduced with the Assembly polls in mind, and once the civic body polls are over, the scheme will be scrapped.
