GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Green Bay Metro Fire Department’s hazardous materials team responded to a chemical spill overnight at the JBS meat packing plant on Lime Kiln Rd.
The fire department says an industrial container filled with cleaning acid fell over while it was being moved with a forklift, and the acid was emitting gases in a garage used for chemical storage.
The Hazmat team transferred to cleaning acid to a different tote until it could get the leaking container upright.
All of the chemical that spilled went into drains that flow to a water treatment plant on the site. No workers or firefighters were injured.
