With Diwali and Kali Puja over, the West Bengal BJP has begun preparations to set up more than 1,000 Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) camps across the state. This comes ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in the state.

Senior party leaders said that as elections draw closer, the BJP has decided to expand the number of such camps and instructed leaders and workers to encourage persecuted Hindu refugees from Bangladesh living in Bengal to apply for citizenship under the CAA.

Speaking to The Indian Express , state BJP president and MP Samik Bhattacharya said, “This was an agenda for the BJP from day one. There was a slight delay in framing the rules due to the Covid pandemic, but we are ready.”
