FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will take over Fort Worth ISD, according to a letter obtained by WFAA.

TEA commissioner Mike Morath said he ordered the appointment of both a board of managers and a conservator to manage the district's finances, according to the letter sent by Morath to Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Karen Molinar and members of the Fort Worth ISD board of trustees.

"After engaging in a comprehensive analysis of district data and a thorough vetting of district systems, leadership, and student results, I am hereby ordering the appointment of both a board of managers to govern the district and a conservator," the letter reads.

Fort Worth ISD can immediately appeal Morath's decision, the letter states. Morath will appoint members of the board of managers
