A Towson University student was assaulted after being followed onto an on-campus parking lot Thursday morning.

According to the Towson University Police Department, around 9 a.m., a student reported being followed by a man in a dark-colored car onto Parking Lot 11. The suspect then exited his vehicle and physically assaulted the student, damaged the student’s tire and then fled the scene.

“I’m pretty surprised to see that happen,” said Nathaniel Obeng, a sophomore at Towson.

Madelyn McKeon, a sophomore, lives right next to the lot and parks there often.

“It was later on that the alert came out, and I was thinking, like, I was right by the area at the time and had no idea,” McKeon said.

Towson said the student declined medical treatment.
