MEDINA, Ohio -- If one black cat on Halloween is lucky, then three black cats might be worth betting the lottery on this Oct. 31.

We have three black cats: Helen, Betty and Dotty. Among them, there are only three eyes.

Helen – who has no eyes – is 4 years old. She was found in a trailer park during winter. Her body had gotten so cold that her eyes literally exploded.

She was a “foster fail” -- the veterinarian had asked us to care for her while she healed from surgery. She never left.

She is not hindered by having no eyes, and is able to play with the other cats and hunt flies.

Betty is 3 years old and has just one eye. Her mom gave birth while at the vet and all the kittens had eye conditions. Betty needed to have one eye removed.

The vet called and asked if we wanted a one-eyed cat
