Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) used its annual general meeting to sketch a mixed picture of progress and pressure across western Manitoba’s health system, citing stronger physician recruitment, new and expanded services, and major construction projects while acknowledging a $34.2-million deficit driven largely by vacancies and reliance on agency nursing.
CEO Trina Slate pledged to “provide culturally safe healthcare that is without racism or discrimination,” framing the year’s work around four provincial pillars: improving patient experience, strengthening system capacity and accountability, building a high-performing workforce and sustaining finances.
