ATLANTA — 8.3 million Georgians are currently experiencing drought conditions. And for the first time since the start of November 2019, Level D3 'Extreme' drought is present in part of metro Atlanta.
Portions of Fulton, Clayton, Fayette, Coweta, Douglas, Henry, Spalding, Pike, and Meriwether counties are included in the D3 'Extreme Drought.'These areas are shown in red on the map below.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the following may be experienced during D3 'Extreme Drought':
- Agriculture suffers economic loss
- Ground is cracking
- Landscaping business is negatively affected; agriculture suffers economic loss
- The majority of hay/grazing is lost
- Outdoor burn bans are implemented
