DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The DeKalb County Schools superintendent who was federally indicted a few weeks ago for his alleged role in a kickback scheme with three of his friends to defraud a northern Illinois school district of money has plead not guilty in court, a statement from his attorney said.

Dr. Devon Horton, who will resign with the school district, effective on Nov. 15, had his resignation accepted by the DeKalb County Board of Education last Thursday. Horton was initially placed on administrative leave after his indictment.
