Edinburgh residents living in the Niddrie and Craigmillar have said the community is living in "fear and anxiety' ahead of Bonfire Night following the "shocking disorder" seen last year.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, they highlighted concerns that, despite proactive action taken by the authorities, youths will target their community on what they say has become a night for kids to go "radge."

David Baird, who has recently moved back to Niddrie, believes the police should be giving residents more advice on the lead up to the holiday.

He said: "What the police should have done (last year) is tell local residents to take their milk bottles off the doorstep. That’s what they were picking up and throwing at the police.”
