A former Edinburgh school teacher accused of historical sex abuse has been arrested in South Africa on a further 90 charges.
Iain Wares, 86, has been accused of abuse by dozens of former pupils of Fettes College and Edinburgh Academy, where he taught maths and rugby during the 1960s and 70s. They include BBC presenter Nicky Campbell, reports The Record.
Wares, who now lives in Cape Town, was told in August last year he could be extradited on three charges to face trial in Scotland. But the extradition was delayed after UK authorities looked to submit further charges.
He was taken to Simons Town police station on Wednesday, where two Interpol officers were waiting. He was charged with four rapes, 60 sexual assaults, 25 assaults and a charge of breach of the peace.
