WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Waco man is accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend after he learned he may not be the father of her unborn child, an arrest warrant affidavit states.

Dominick Rangel, 21, is charged with assault of a pregnant person, a third-degree felony, according to the court document and jail records.

Waco police officers were dispatched to the Southwind Apartments at 1901 Richter Avenue at about 4 p.m. on Oct. 21.

The officers met with a woman in one of the apartment units who said her boyfriend, identified in the court document as Rangel, struck her multiple times and was in her room “breaking things.”

The officers entered the woman’s bedroom and took Rangel into custody without incident.
