WASHINGTON — More than two years after five people were shot and three were killed in Southeast D.C., police say one of the people responsible has been arrested.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 1600 block of Good Hope Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2023. When first responders arrived, they found four men and one woman who had been shot.
Two men and the woman were killed in the shooting. The other two victims were taken to an area hospital for help.
The three people killed were later identified as 27-year-old Tymea Cook 35-year-old Bernard Hodges, and 34-year-old Reginald Gilbert.
On Wednesday, more than two years after the deadly shooting, police arrested 28-year-old Rahsaan Smith. Smith is charged with first-degree murder while
