The 31-year-old man taken into custody in connection with the stabbing of former Fall River mayor William Flanagan on Monday has a lengthy arrest record and a history of mental health struggles, legal filings show.
Corree K. Gonzales pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Fall River District Court to four counts of assault and battery on a police officer for allegedly assaulting the officers who detained him “in connection with the investigation into the stabbing of Mr. Flanagan,” according to police and court records.
On Wednesday, records show, Gonzales was charged with two counts in connection with the attack on Flanagan: armed assault to rob and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. An arraignment date for those counts hasn’t been set.
On Tuesday, Judge Heath Antonio ordered
