NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — A years-long investigation led to the discovery of an alleged "culture of fraud and time abuse" within Long Island Rail Road employees, according to a report released by the Office of the MTA Inspector General.
The report alleges that 24 LIRR workers, including a supervisor, admitted to possessing "cloned" swipe cards, which are used as ID cards to clock in and out for shifts. These cards, according to the OIG, were made using machines bought on Amazon and sold to employees for profit.
One supervisor allegedly showed up for a weekend overtime shift in a bathing suit and flip flops, saying, “Don't bother looking for me. I'll be next to my pool with a margarita.”
Six employees were involved in the creation and distribution of the ID cards, the OIG report claims. Wi
