A 72-year-old man was found dead near a strip mall in Sayreville on Wednesday, authorities said.

The body of Dhirubhai A. Patel was located near the Mini Mall in the area of Route 9 and Ernston Road between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., officials said Thursday.

He was described as homeless by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecutor’s office referred questions to Sayreville police, who couldn’t immediately be reached.
