ALABAMA (WHNT) - Former University of Alabama Quarterback AJ McCarron announced Thursday that he would be running for Lieutenant Governor.
McCarron was with the Tide for five years, winning back-to-back National Championships under coach Nick Saban.
"With my football career behind me, Katherine and I are raising our boys here, instilling in them our deep Christian faith and teaching them the fundamental morals that make this state so special," McCarron said in his announcement video.
He cited Charlie Kirk's example as his reason "to get off the sidelines, and get into the game and stand tall" for Conservative beliefs.
