HOLT, Mich. (WILX) - A Holt Junior High School health teacher has been named the state’s Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE-MI) .

Sydney Moore received the award in recognition of her commitment to excellence and her outstanding record of promoting physical fitness among Holt students.

Moore played a key role in efforts to revamp SHAPE America’s Youth Fitness Plan, which encourages school-age children to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.

She has also participated in several wellness initiatives, including Michigan Moves Day .

Moore has been a valued member of the Holt Public Schools district since 2017.
