The death of a man who was killed during a fire at a homeless encampment in Milford over the summer has been ruled a homicide.
Joseph Kane, 57, died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, according to a spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner . His death was ruled a homicide.
Kane died after a fire broke out shortly before noon at a homeless camp in a wooded area near Lowe’s Home Improvement on Old Gate Lane on Aug. 15, according to the Milford Police Department .
A firefighter who responded to battle the blaze suffered a minor injury and was taken to a hospital.
