HUNTER, N.D. — Northern Cass senior Owen Johnson grew up on a running path.

As an infant, Johnson was pushed in a stroller down running paths or whatever trail his mother, and coach, Jennifer, was running along.

“He used to joke that he had more miles in the stroller than he did on the course,” Jennifer said.

But that changed a few years ago.

Owen has steadily risen as one of the top Class B boys cross country runners in North Dakota. The senior, who won his second Class B East Region meet on Oct. 11, is preparing for the final meet of his high school career.

The Class B state meet is slated for Friday, Oct. 24, at the Pipestem Reservoir near Jamestown. Girls race at 2 p.m. and boys at 2:45 p.m.
