Former Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier, Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and more than 30 other individuals were named in indictments unsealed Thursday morning in two criminal cases involving sports betting and illegal poker games that officials said were run by the mob.
Rozier, a former first-round draft pick, was arrested in Orlando, Florida, and officials say that he participated in a sports betting scheme where he shared information with bettors that was not publicly available. He was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
There were 37 people linked to the two cases who were arrested, officials said during a press conference Thursday morning shortly after the news of Rozier’s arrest broke.
