Students, staff and faculty are asking the University of Colorado Boulder administration to implement certain countermeasures to alleviate concerns about installing a statue on campus that will honor former Buffs football coach Bill McCartney.
A statue will be unveiled this fall to honor McCartney, who died in January at age 84, for leading the Buffaloes to the only national title in program history in 1990. He led the Buffs from 1982 to 1994, posting a record of 93-55-5, with nine bowl appearances. He was inducted into the CU Athletic Hall of Fame and the Colorado Football Hall of Fame.
