SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Five individuals have been arrested by Scottsdale police for their alleged involvement in an assault outside a local bar that resulted in a fatality.

On Oct. 11, Thomas John Pizzitola was found unconscious on the sidewalk by police officers and taken to a hospital. He later died and his death was attributed to blunt force trauma by the medical examiner, records show.

Witnesses told investigators that a verbal altercation occurred between a group of men outside Pattie's First Avenue Lounge that resulted in three people being physically assaulted. Pizzitola sustained a head injury during the assault and fell to the ground.
