A Highmark Health subsidiary that serves Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans formally opened an 82,500-square-foot warehouse and fulfillment center Thursday,

Forge, which is part of Highmark’s wholly owned enGen subsidiary, held a ribbon-cutting at the Neville Island facility. The company creates print, digital and mail materials for nine Blues plans in nine states and other clients.

Downtown-based Elmhurst Group owns the building, once a World War II boat-making facility that had been vacant for 10 years. Forge invested $3.5 million in the building for modernization.

Forge employs five full-time people, which is expected to grow to 20 to 50 seasonal employees during peak demand periods such as open enrollment, when consumers enroll in or switch coverage, Forge Vice President Jason A
