National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled to return on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with drop-off locations all across the country.

Drug Take Back Day aims to encourage the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes to prevent medication misuse and accidental ingestion or intentional abuse.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated more than 112,000 people in the U.S. died from drug overdoses in a year-long period ending in May.

The event takes place on the last Saturday of the months of April and October each year.
