CHARLESTON — The fate of a downtown restaurant once featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” is up in the air as the future owners the property could close its doors — and then possibly tear them down.
That is if they get the necessary permission from the city.
NK Partners is seeking permission to partially demolish the Fuel Cantina building at 211 Rutledge Ave. The request was scheduled to be discussed at a meeting of the city’s Board of Architectural Review on Oct. 23.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean the corner restaurant will close any time soon — or that the 1960s gas station the business operates from will be razed.
