ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A wildlife sanctuary that provides a unique experience to Albuquerque Public Schools third graders is looking for volunteers to help maintain the space.
For the past four years, the Los Padillas Wildlife Sanctuary at the Los Padillas Elementary School campus has provided hands-on lessons to students, allowing them to connect with science, nature, and community while in an outdoor classroom setting.
APS said students are able to explore habitats, learn about local wildlife, and discover how ecological systems work.
Coming up on Saturday, Nov. 8, the sanctuary will deploy volunteers to help care for the space by weeding, removing invasive species, working on habitats, and maintaining the pond.
Shifts: • 9–11 a.m. • 11 a.m.–1 p.m. • 1–3 p.m.
