YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- As the Ohio General Assembly continues working to reform the property tax system, Mahoning County Commissioners argue the steps being taken don't go far enough.
Commissioners complain efforts to place a cap on what's called "inside millage" don't go far enough to bring about real reforms. Inside millage allows property taxes to increase automatically as values rise.
While supporters say the move is a good "first step," commissioners worry it's not nearly enough to stop those pushing a referendum to eliminate all property taxes from moving forward.
"What's going to happen is if it gets on the ballot and it passes, if the state isn't addressing this issue now, how are they going to address the fact that there is no more income coming in?" said commissioner Antho
