Srinagar, Oct 23: Director of Floriculture, Gardens and Parks Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom, said the department will open a new theme garden dedicated to chrysanthemums this Saturday. The project aims to stretch the valley’s tourist season beyond the tulip bloom.
Masoom said chrysanthemums are hardy autumn flowers that can survive until the end of November. “Chrysanthemum is an autumn flower. It is very hard and will last at least till the end of November,” she said, highlighting their strength and value for tourism during late autumn.
She explained that while tulips mark the start of spring, chrysanthemums carry the floral charm into late autumn and early winter. The new garden currently displays about 50 varieties, and the department plans to expand both area and types in the
