Woman dead, child taken to hospital after incident outside Walmart in Goodyear

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Goodyear police are investigating an incident reported Thursday afternoon outside a Walmart that resulted in a woman's death.

At about 1 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the area of Estrella Parkway and Interstate 10 after a caller reported that a person had been struck by a car.

When officers arrived at the scene, a woman was pronounced deceased and a child was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

A witness told 12News he heard the sound of tires screeching and then ran toward the store to see a person pinned by a vehicle up against a wall.
