LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It’s milestone after milestone after milestone for Whitney Lewis. For two years, Spectrum News has followed her mission to physically clean up the state.
“Oh, I’m like a kid in a candy shop,” said Lewis, founder of A Cleaner Kentucky.
Lewis lights up at the sight of trash laying at the banks of the Ohio River at Waterfront Park in Louisville.
“To me, it’s like a Mario game, and that’s ding ding ding bonus. You had a bunch of stuff on one spot. Let’s go get it. You know, it’s like fishing or something. I don’t know how to explain it,” Lewis said.
Yet Lewis doesn’t have to explain.
“The Cleaner Kentucky movement is about doing it while you’re out there. You know, a little bit at a time, one grocery bag at a time,” Lewis said.
