Elmira, N.Y. (WETM) — People have been getting letters in the mail about their Medicare either being cancelled or changed. On Oct. 23 the Chemung County Department of Aging held an event for people to learn more and possibly change their Medicare plan.

Some Medicare advantage plans are being canceled at the end of the year. People are concerned about what to do and why this is happening.

"I'm nervous, I'm upset, I'm uncomfortable because I gotta figure out what comes first here," said Jacqueline Cartwright, an event participant. "I need the medical insurance to survive for my prescriptions, I gotta pay my taxes, I gotta buy groceries, I gotta buy gas for the car, everything's going up."
