SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The Massachusetts State Senate voted on Thursday on two amendments, hoping to restore millions of dollars in funding to western Massachusetts. This motion came after the Springfield City Council overwhelmingly passed a resolution Wednesday night to ask the state to reimburse MGM casino mitigation money.
Those proposed amendments were hoping to restore $3 million in state funding to our region. That funding going towards things like public safety, neighborhood park updates, job training at local community colleges, and traffic improvements.
Both amendments were rejected by the senate on Thursday.
