Cornwall has been experiencing bouts of doctor shortages for over 20 years now.

In an effort to improve what is offered locally and remain competitive, Cornwall city council recently opted to make changes to its two existing medical incentives programs. The changes were among the 18 recommendations from the mayor’s task force on medical recruitment that Mayor Justin Towndale launched in May of 2024 .
