MANSHANTUCKET, Conn. (WTNH) -- News 8 spoke one-on-one with the Connecticut State Police lead crisis negotiator who was at Foxwoods earlier this week when a man allegedly held two people against their will.
Sgt. Paul Piper leads CSP's Crisis Negotiation Unit, overseeing ten troopers. He provided News 8 a rare insight into how negotiators worked to avoid a potentially deadly situation at Foxwoods.
"My opening line is, 'This is Paul from State Police,'" said Sgt. Piper. "We want to hear their story, we want to know what got them to this point of crisis, what's happening for them today."
On Monday, 40-year-old David Griswold of East Windsor was safely taken into custody after police were able to make entry into the Fox Tower room and arrest him. Police said he was holding two women against
