SPOKANE, Wash. – The eligibility of Tyon Grant-Foster, a potential standout for Gonzaga University’s men’s basketball team, is now a matter for federal court.
Grant-Foster’s waiver to play was denied by the NCAA, despite his previous health challenges affecting his playing time. He has a heart condition, arrhythmic cardiomyopathy, which once sidelined him after just a half-game.
Following heart surgeries, he played two healthy seasons at Grand Canyon University but exhausted his eligibility, prompting the need for a waiver.
Initially, the Spokane County Superior Court was set to hear his case. However, the NCAA filed a motion to move the case to federal court, arguing their eligibility rulings fall under federal jurisdiction.
Currently, there is no scheduled date for the federal hearin
