BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Birmingham leaders have a new plan in place to prevent headaches during driver’s morning commutes.
City officials report that over time, severe weather, construction, and other accidents have knocked traffic signals across the city offline.
Now, many are out-of-sync which should be changing soon.
“I think it’s a fantastic thing,” said Ace Graham who owns Alchemy, a footwear and apparel store in Five Points South.
The Birmingham City Council accepted almost $2 million from an ALDOT program and is putting up another $450,000 from the city to upgrade traffic signals.
Graham calls some signals in the city “confusing.” His run club has seen it firsthand.
“Sometimes we’re in a group of 100 and we’re waiting for a light to change, and then the light will change
