CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia is taking a high-tech step ahead.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Thursday that West Virginians can now have their ID on their phone.

“West Virginia has officially launched support for drivers license and state issued IDs in Apple Wallet,” Morrisey said.

To get your ID onto your Apple Wallet, all you need to do is open the Apple Wallet app, hit the plus icon in the corner, then select drivers license and click West Virginia.

Eric Tipton, executive director of the DMV, said, “Follow those on screen prompts from there. It’s going to walk you through a facial recognition portion of that, so you will have a face scan and all of this is validated on the DMV side.”
