HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Workforce Solutions Cameron on Thursday received a $350,000 grant from the office of Gov. Greg Abbott.

According to Texas Workforce Commission, the grant supports innovative education and workforce skills training programs that lead to successful job placement, increased wages, and improved job retention in the Rio Grande Valley.

“Our team was successful in writing that grant,” said Workforce Solutions Cameron Chief Executive Officer Rafael Vela. “That one is broader—that one really focuses on high-demand jobs, high-tech jobs, and manufacturing and construction for those individuals.
