ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — An Abita Springs man is in custody after being accused Wednesday, Oct. 22, of killing his 4-year-old sister.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived at a residence on Gardenia Street to reports of an unresponsive child. Detectives found that the 4-year-old victim received multiple life-threatening injuries. She was transported to area hospital where she later died.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's office, the victim was identified as Janna Haynes.
STPSO officials said that the victim's brother, 21-year-old Davahn Alec Profit, was arrested in connection with the incident. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center and faces charges of first-degree murder and resisting arrest.
